Judy Edgett Darragh

Assc.St., Canadian Dancesport Federation

Judy took an early interest in the art of dance as a 7 year old in her mother's dance school in Moncton, N.B.    She participated in folk, square, tap, ballet and social dance classes.  Through her teen years she and her partners would compete in many Maritime and Canadian dance competitions in both ballroom and latin.  Her natural dancing talent and keen interest led her to audition at the young age of 14 with the renowned Gunter Buchta, director of the legendary Buchta Dancers and performed as part of the CBC's Don Messer's Jubilee television show seen weekly in Canadian households.  Judy's successful audition made her the youngest member of this popular dance troupe and she appeared regularly on this nationally broadcast T.V. show.  Judy had the wonderful experience of dancing with the Jubilee when it  performed at Expo 67 and toured across Canada on two other occasions in the summer months.

Upon retirement from this hectic and demanding schedule, Judy turned to passing on her love of dance by becoming a certified dance teacher with the Canadian Dancesport Federation.  As a professional dance teacher, Judy has taught dance for the past 30 years to children, teenagers and adults whether it be social, ballroom, or latin. Judy's interest included teaching competitors of all ages.  Her interest now focuses on her students having some fun, exercise and connection with others in a social atmosphere and she has chosen to do this with social dance.  Judy is an outstanding instructor and her classes are fun and informative in a social environment.
